Total Funds Raised by Rho Epsilon at

2023 Philanthropy Events for

Make-A-Wish Foundation:

$170,522

Hello everyone!

My name is Sami and I am the 2024 Make-A-Wish Chair for the Rho Epsilon Chapter of Chi Omega. Along with the Make-A-Wish team, I plan our annual Frats-At-Bat Tournament, Chi Omega date nights benefitting Make-A-Wish, and the Family Weekend Auction. At the 2023 Family Weekend Auction, we raised over $168,000 for Make-A-Wish!

Aside from organizing these events, I also educate the chapter about the Make-A-Wish Foundation and ways they can individually become involved, outside of our Chi Omega fundraising events. The biggest way Chi Omegas get involved is by becoming Certified Wish Granters, helping officially grant wishes to children across the North Texas area. If you'd like to help us share the power of a wish, feel free to contact me at any time.

Love,

Sami Law

Chi Omega and Make-A-Wish Foundation®

Make-A-Wish Foundation® has been Chi Omega's national philanthropy for the past twelve years. The Make-A-Wish Foundation® enriches the lives of children with life-threatening medical conditions through its wish-granting work. The Make-A-Wish® experience has a life-changing impact on children, families, referral sources, donors, sponsors, and entire communities. A wish experience is often a source of inspiration for children undergoing difficult medical treatments and a positive force that helps them overcome their obstacles. A wish experience is often more than a dream come true: It’s the catalyst that rekindles their belief in themselves and the promise of their future. Chi Omegas fundraises and volunteerz for this wonderful Foundation to understand the importance of service to others as a founding principle of our Sisterhood.

Wish Granters

The connection between Chi Omega and The Make-A-Wish Foundation last long beyond college years. Over twenty five girls in our chapter have taken a personal initiative to get trained as Wish Granters. As a Wish Granter, you work directly with the Wish family, helping the child decide their "one true wish" and actually helping plan the wish! It is definitely a rewarding experience interacting with the Wish child and their family and seeing the joy that granting their greatest desire can bring.

Frats At Bat Tournament

Frats At Bat is the oldest philanthropy tradition here on TCU's campus! For the past twenty years, Frats At Bat has been a two-day softball tournament between TCU Fraternities held each Spring. The tournament is single elimination and fraternities may to enter up to three teams. All the fame and glory goes to the tournament winner... until the next year when the boys are back at bat. Four Chi Omegas are paired with a team and serve as the team “coaches.” Coaches serve as representatives of their fraternity team to the Chi Omega Make-A-Wish team. They attend all their teams games, cheer them on and often provide snacks!

Family Weekend Auction

Each fall the Make-A-Wish team plans a wonderful dinner and auction during Parents Weekend. Active members of Chi Omega solicit donations from family, friends, and area businesses that make this auction such a success each year. Last year this event took place in the stockyards! There is a live auction, a silent auction, and a speaker that shares their own personal experience and journey with the Make-A-Wish Foundation. If you would like to donate items or have any questions, please contact our Make-A-Wish Auction Chair
